Web Communities

uPlaya.com is a web community allowing Musicians to analyse their songs, using uPlaya's patented technology, and promote themselves throughout the web with uPlaya's widgets and partner contests.

8fold helped create the name, business model, product, web site, and sales pipelines.

uPlaya has been growing steadily in paid subscriptions since it's launch in June 2009.

Facebook Applications

Exposing technology to users and their friends through Facebook can be one of the most viral web marketing techniques going.

8fold helped uPlaya develop games highlighting their patented technology. Facebook users discover uPlaya Artists while competing with their friends.

iPhone Applications

Mobile phones have seen an explosion in web usage thanks in part to the Apple iPhone. Many companies have seen increased adoption specifically through iPhone applications so it's easy to justify development for Apple's proprietary environment.

8fold helped expand uPlaya's technology into an iPhone music game allowing users to judge which two songs out of three sound the most similar.

Widgets

Whether or not you know what a "Widget" is matters little when you're browsing the web. Most likely you have already used many of these portable bits of web functionality without realising you're using a widget. YouTube video players, which can be seen on many sites other than YouTube itself, are a common portable widget which retain all of the typical YouTube functionality and can be shared anywhere on the web.

8fold developed widgets for uPlaya that present an artists music provide a vehicle for sales.

Product Development

We've been working with an engineering team for the last two years employing the Scrum process for product development. This includes a long term product strategy and short term development cycle that keeps everyone informed of the progress. The Scrum process breaks development into 2-4 week sprints with a daily progress meeting. This helps a team improve their delivery time estimates and keeps management informed on product feature rollout timelines.

We use Basecamp for Scrum tracking and Lighthouse for bug ticketing.
